An abdominoplasty is a procedure that flattens your abdomen by removing extra skin and fat and tightening the muscles in your abdominal wall. This surgical procedure is also referred to as a tummy tuck.
Both men and women who are in generally good health and who are at a stable weight are candidates for a tummy tuck. Being a non-smoker is best.
Although your surgeon may decide to include liposuction as part of a tummy tuck, a tummy tuck shouldn't be confused with liposuction (the cosmetic procedure used to remove fat deposits). The procedure may be helpful for women who have stretched muscles and skin from multiple pregnancies in order to tighten those muscles and reduce that skin.
For those with a history of obesity who have lost a lot of weight but still have excess fat deposits or loose skin in the abdomen, a tummy tuck is an additional option.

The typical abdominoplasty techniques are determined by the patients' underlying anatomies, the amount and location of excess skin, and their clothing preferences.
The incision for a standard abdominoplasty is made from hip to hip just below the navel. Because the belly button will be moved after the excess skin in the upper abdomen is removed, incisions will also be made around the belly button during the procedure. The remaining skin pulls down over the stomach after the excess skin has been removed and the abdominal muscles have been tightened with internal sutures.
The procedure typically varies from person to person, here are the most common values;
